DIY Hair Bow Holder

This is quite possibly the easiest and cheapest DIY ever.

Finding a solution for the girls’ growing bow collection was harder than I initially thought. I was set on finding something that could serve as wall decor in a very particular 15-inch wide spot between the door and closet. Everything I saw on Etsy and Amazon was way too rustic-girly for my taste so I dreamed up this super easy, minimal, multi-rung bow hanger for $2.98!

Supplies you’ll need:

  • 3/4in. x 36in. Wooden pine dowel
  • ribbon (I already had 1.5in. light pink Grosgrain ribbon)
  • twine or thick string/rope (I used pink twine I already had)
  • saw
  • drill
  • scissors
  • hot glue gun
  • measuring tape

Cut the dowel into equal 12in lengths. On one of the lengths, drill two holes – one about an inch from each end. Thread the twine through and knot at your desired length.

Cut ribbon into equal lengths – I chose ~16 inches each. Use hot-glue to adhere the ribbon to the dowel. Once you do the first section hang it on a doorknob to make sure everything looks level before attaching it to the middle dowel. Repeat the process with the next two ribbons and dowels.

If my directions don’t seem very precise that’s because my process wasn’t. This came together in less than 30 minutes after getting the idea. The size is totally customizable based on your wall space and since making this last summer I’ve added another rung for the girl’s collection.

*All bows are from a Little Lady Shop. We subscribed to their monthly bow box for ~18 months. I hated to cancel but we just didn’t need anymore, however the quality is amazing and I can’t recommend it enough.
