Before I had kids, Valentine’s Day was always a holiday that just came and went. Aside from a card and cooking dinner together, my husband and I never did much. There was certainly no decorating or gifts. I’ve shared before how I like to get my kids involved in holidays big and small and Valentine’s Day is no exception.
We keep it pretty basic around here. Some window clings, a simple craft, or coloring pages. I’ll hang the heart felt garland I made years ago on the girl’s door and swap this downloadable art in a frame in their room. I don’t do pajamas for Valentine’s Day, although Burt’s Bee’s are exceptionally cute this year. Instead, I opt for a fun breakfast on festive plates and get the girls a new dress each year. I stay away from anything that’s overtly for the holiday so it’s something that can be worn all Spring like this cute waffle dress from Target.
Holidays and gift giving can seem pretty excessive in the “Instagrammable” world we live in, but hopefully these gift, decor, and activity ideas prove that simple can still be sweet.
