A Weekend in North Beach

It’s called “Little Italy” and I absolutely agree. Sitting outside Caffé  Roma in North Beach had me immediately back in Europe. I had been to North Beach many times before, but this was really the first time I went without a reason to go. I strolled aimlessly for hours, peaking in bookstores and cheese shops, sipped coffee at a sidewalk cafe and people watched in Washington Square Park. By bus or on foot (I did both) it is a very pleasant trip from Pac Heights. I spent all day Saturday and Sunday exploring the neighborhood, thus checking off #8 on my Summer Bucket List.  It was a great weekend, as I was getting awfully tired of the “same old same” on Fillmore, Union and Chestnut streets. And the reprieve from all the Lululemon-clad-women and small dogs was nice too.

“Whatever you can do or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now.” – Goethe
