We’re getting ready to turn our office/guest room into a nursery for Baby #3. It’s been so much fun to put together a mood board for the room. What’s crazy is we already own almost everything here and I’m pleasantly surprised at how well it all works together. And that’s precisely why I always make design boards before I buy something. Whether or not you’re starting from scratch in your space, design boards allow you to see how things you already own will work together in a new way.
I had a hard time visualizing how our black cowhide rug would look in a baby’s room, so I dropped it into the mood board and I love it! We’ve also never used a stand-alone changing table. With the girls, I used a changing pad on top of a dresser. In this room, we don’t need a dresser because it has a great closet, so I’m going to paint the changing table my parents used for me and my siblings. I was debating between black and white paint but after finding a similar changing table online I can see that black adds a needed dimension to the room. Again, this is why you must mood board!
Just because I put something on my design board doesn’t mean I’m going to buy that exact item. They are my inspiration. If you are on a budget you could put together your dream board, then slowly purchase things or look for similar items at second-hand stores or online.
This room is going to be the perfect neutral base whether Baby G is a boy or a girl. I don’t imagine doing much beyond this but down the road, it will be so easy to add feminine or masculine touches as he or she grows. <3
