Shared Sister Room Mood Board

I shared my mood board for Baby G’s nursery back in November and since doing so, we’ve actually decided to press pause on that project. As much as I want to create a sweet space for our new baby we still very much need a home office and guest room. We live in a small house and it just doesn’t make sense to create this beautiful room that will sit largely unused until the baby moves into his or her crib sometime this summer. Even then, we’ll probably spend most of our time where the girls’ toys are – in their bedroom. So, I’ve changed gears to focus on getting the girls’ shared room set up with bunk beds and making it as comfortable and conducive to play as possible before the baby arrives.

Caroline and Elyce’s Room has looked the same since they began sharing a room. Aside from transitioning the crib to a toddler bed, this room hasn’t changed in almost three years. I envision this space being with the girls for most of their childhood years so want to leave plenty of room to grow. Plus, I want to love it for years to come.

Here’s a look at how their room looked before.

Paint Color: Melted Ice Cream by Benjamine Moore

I bought these floral Ralph Lauren pillows a couple of years ago and have been saving them for this exact room. I love them that much. They are feminine floral without being juvenile and saccharine and have been the jumping-off point for the rest of their bedding and color scheme. This Target sham and throw coordinate so well and also pull together the colors from my estate sale painting.

The girls have been sleeping on their new bunk bed since December and I’m so happy with the quality. It’s a damn good dupe for this Pottery Barn Kids bunk bed at 1/3 the price! I’m leaving the paint color, rug, chandelier, and bookshelf, and focusing on swapping out the things that feel “too baby”, like the curtains and artwork. I’m excited to see it all come together!
